Filling the Gaps

Mountain Heart Ministries provides practical help to individuals and families in Appalachian communities when a genuine need isn’t being met by other available resources. We don’t want to duplicate assistance that is already available. We want to fill the gaps when other programs, benefits, churches, or community resources aren’t enough.

Your Donations Help Provide:

• Food Assistance — Groceries and essential food for seniors, veterans, pregnant women, families with children, and others facing genuine hardship.
• Housing Assistance — Short-term help during a housing crisis, including assistance intended to help someone obtain or maintain safe, stable housing.
• Utility Assistance — Help with essential electricity, heat, water, or other utilities when loss of service would create serious hardship.
• Job & Technical Training — Assistance with approved trade school, certification, technical education, or other job training that can lead to dependable employment and greater self-sufficiency.
• Emergency Assistance — Practical help when an unexpected crisis leaves an individual or family without the resources to meet an immediate essential need.

Every request is reviewed individually. We consider the actual need, other resources that may be available, and where Mountain Heart Ministries can make a meaningful difference. Whenever practical, assistance is paid directly to the utility company, landlord, training program, vendor, or other provider rather than given as unrestricted cash.

We can’t fill every need. But when someone has fallen through the cracks, we want to help fill the gap.
