Why I’m Sharing These Studies

I have studied the Bible with Pastors Arnold and Dennis Murray and Shepherd’s Chapel for many years. When I first began studying with Pastor Murray, someone shared written transcripts of his Bible studies with me. I learned so much from them and thoroughly enjoyed being able to read, study, and go back over the teaching at my own pace.

That experience is what inspired me to prepare these transcripts and make them available to others—especially those who may not have access to video or audio teaching, including prisoners and shut-ins, as well as anyone who simply learns better by reading.

Pastor Murray’s teaching changed the way I understood the Bible and, ultimately, changed my life. I know that every teacher’s style is not for everyone, and that’s perfectly all right. But if these studies help you see and understand God’s Word more clearly, as they did for me, I believe they can be a tremendous blessing.

These Bible study transcripts are provided completely free of charge.

Why Begin With Genesis?

Pastor Arnold Murray often compared understanding the Bible to plotting a course as a pilot. As a pilot himself, he knew that if your course is even slightly off at the beginning of a journey, the farther you travel, the farther you may end up from your intended destination.

He believed Bible study works much the same way.

The first six chapters of Genesis establish a foundation for understanding what follows throughout Scripture. If we don’t understand the beginning—what happened, why it happened, and the people and events God introduces there—it becomes much more difficult to understand how the rest of the Bible fits together.

That is why our study library begins at the beginning.

Bible Study Beyond the Internet

Not everyone has access to online Bible teaching.

Prisoners may not be able to receive CDs, DVDs, or access internet videos. Some shut-ins and seniors may have limited internet access, and others simply find it easier to learn from something they can hold, read, underline, and study at their own pace.

One of our hopes for this ministry is to make printed Bible studies available to people who might otherwise have difficulty accessing this kind of teaching.
