Filling the Gaps

Mountain Heart Ministries provides practical help to individuals and families in Appalachian communities when a genuine need isn’t being met by other available resources. We don’t want to duplicate assistance that is already available. We want to fill the gaps when other programs, benefits, churches, or community resources aren’t enough.

Your Donations Help Provide:

• Helping Harlan Seniors — Food, personal hygiene products, incontinence supplies, household necessities, supplemental groceries, and seasonal items for seniors in Harlan County.
• Food Assistance — Support for existing senior meal programs and supplemental food for people facing food insecurity, helping local organizations stretch limited resources further.
• Emergency Assistance — Limited help with essential utilities and other urgent basic needs when an unexpected crisis creates serious hardship and funds are available.

Every request is reviewed individually. We consider the actual need, other resources that may be available, and where Mountain Heart Ministries can make a meaningful difference. Whenever practical, assistance is paid directly to the utility company, landlord, training program, vendor, or other provider rather than given as unrestricted cash.

We can’t fill every need. But when someone has fallen through the cracks, we want to help fill the gap.
